Lumbosacral plexus injury

The lumbosacral plexus, the origin of nerves to the leg, is contained and protected within the bony pelvis, hence injuries are rare. In severe trauma usually with pelvic fractures there are lesions to the lumbosacral plexus.

Plex injury

All or parts of the leg and foot become paralysed and numb with pain. A rare type of injury occuring after severe trauma to the lower part of the body with pelvic or hip fractures or dislocation.
